A group of 20 students and faculty attended the March 18th production of The Lion King at the Opera House in Boston. Our students were thrilled to have joined the 45 million people worldwide who have experienced this one of a kind, spectacular musical.
Here is what our students had to say; Ian, “It is the second time I have seen it but the costumes were so brilliant. It was just as enjoyable the second time!” Emily reported, “Well done!” Matt was happy to add, “It was fantastic! The singing was great. The acting was great. The costumes were incredible! I had great a great time hanging out with my friends. I would love to do it again!”
Sally Kelly, Title One Teacher, and Erin Dowie, Speech Language Pathologist, have been conducting a book club that meets on Friday afternoons. Carolyn, Jonathan, Matthew and Samantha are finishing up The Devil’s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen. The book follows a modern day teenager, Hannah, as she is transported from her family’s Passover Seder to a Polish Village during the Holocaust. The book has inspired wonderful and open discussions about history, culture, and personal family experiences.
Dot Parks, NS, NM will be reinvigorating Chamberlain School’s commitment to assisting our students in developing a healthy lifestyle. Dot will be working in conjunction with our nursing faculty to address the dietary and exercise needs of our students. As in the past, Dot will continue to meet with any faculty who oversee menu planning. Assistance will be given to create menus that are not only healthy, but appealing to our students. She will continue to meet with students in their dorms, observe meal preparation and meal times to assist both students and faculty in modifying current habits and adopt new strategies which will lead to life long healthy living.
We look forward to Dot’s continued involvement, ideas and energy she brings to the topic. For more information on the services she can offer, please visit her on the web at Dotparkes.com or contact Barit White, RN, Director of Nursing.
