The success of the F. L Chamberlain School lies in part
to the commitment of our highly trained clinical staff
of therapists, each working in collaboration with our
full time consultant psychiatrists. The clinical
department consists of masters level therapists, each
managing a caseload of students. The focus of
treatment within this department is Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy (CBT), with many therapists specializing in
areas such as Family Therapy, Non-Verbal Learning
Disabilities, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),
Grief and Loss, Play Therapy, and Trauma. The Clinical
Team shows devotion to helping the students at the
Chamberlain School navigate the often-difficult
developmental tasks of adolescents.
The Chamberlain School
offers a full range of clinical services to meet the
needs of the student population. Currently, the students
at Chamberlain receive services for diagnostic criteria,
including but not limited to, Obsessive-Compulsive
Disorder, Aspergers Disorder, Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety
Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Oppositional Defiant
Disorder, Non-Verbal Learning Disorder, Reactive
Attachment Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and
Borderline Personality Disorder.
At the Chamberlain
School, therapists provide weekly individual and group
therapy sessions for each student, as well as crisis
intervention as necessary. Each student is also seen on
a monthly basis by one of the psychiatrists on staff,
and is supported by his or her therapist during this
session in the discussion of psychopharmacological
needs. Treatment though, is not limited to the
therapist’s office. Each student is encouraged to use
the skills they are learning in therapy, in the
community of the Chamberlain School as well as when they
are at home. With each therapist assigned to a Residence
at Chamberlain, they are able to work closely with the
residential treatment team as well as classroom teachers
for ongoing and effective treatment planning.
Each therapist maintains weekly, structured
communication with families, giving consistent support
helping each child make progress towards their overall
goals. Structured family therapy is also offered to
those families where specific families goals can be
identified and meeting as a family system can be
beneficial.
